Join award-winning musicians Jing Xia, Persio Dominguez, and Andrew Kagumba for a unique workshop and performance at 62 Broadway, where diverse musical traditions come together in an exploration of sound, culture, and collaboration. Each artist will introduce and demonstrate their instrument, sharing its history, techniques, and cultural significance—Jing with the expressive guzheng, and Persio and Andrew with the rhythmic traditions of Dominican and African percussion. Through live performance, guided improvisation, and interactive discussion, the trio will explore the art of intercultural music-making, demonstrating how different traditions intersect, influence, and inspire one another. As part of the experience, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on drum circle. Drums will be provided, allowing everyone to engage with the music, experiment with rhythm, and be part of a collective musical experience.
