Our Mentorship program is designed to provide high-school students with experience shadowing industry professionals and working in the arts sector.
Youth Engagement
In order to have a sustainable arts sector in our city, we need to provide opportunities to youth to engage with the arts in a variety of capacities. At Laughing Heart Music we offer a mentorship program that is tailored to meet the unique needs and interests of each mentee and is designed to offer hands-on experience and guidance to young artists who are interested in the music industry!
What Can Mentees Gain From This Program?
Our mentorship program can offer a range of benefits. Mentees can learn from experienced professionals and gain valuable insights into the music industry, build relationships and connections with industry professionals, develop hands-on experience and practical skills, and gain a sense of purpose and motivation as they work towards a meaningful project. This can help students to develop their skills, understandings, and networks in the music industry, build their resumes and portfolios, and develop valuable life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and leadership.
Requirements & Details
- Eligible applicants must be age 14-18 years of age.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Applications should have a general interest in the arts and the music business.
- Mentees will be required to work after school for 2 hours a week.
- Mentorship terms last for 4 months at a time (January – April, May – August, September – December)
- Mentees will be paid an honorarium of $500 at the end of their term. ($15.60 per hour)
- While mentorship activities will be tailored to each mentee’s specific interests, some broad mentee responsibilities will include: assisting with implementing events at 62 Broadway, running various errands and shadowing mentors / learning about the music industry.
