Owner / Artist Manager

Nigel is a graduate of the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, with a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. Nigel is an artist manager and record label owner based in Steady Brook, NL. Through his company, Laughing Heart Music, Nigel has worked with artists like Classified, The Lytics, Anthony OKS, Ben Caplan, Hillsburn and many others as a manager, label owner, and music publisher. Nigel is the Chair for the Board of Directors for MusicNL, and sits on the board of directors for the East Coast Music Association. He was nominated for the 2022 East Coast Music Award for Artist Manager of the Year, the 2021 Music NL awards for Industry Professional of the Year and Outstanding Company of the Year, and the 2019 East Coast Music Award for Artist Manager of the Year.

Events Coordinator

Debbie Brown is the events coordinator for Laughing Heart Music. Previously, she spent 10 years working in the non-profit sector in public education, fund and relationship development, event management, and marketing. Most recent she was the Coordinator of Diversity and Public Education with the Association for New Canadians. Prior to entering the non-profit sector, she spent 14 years working in marketing and sales in the publishing industry. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Univeristy of Toronto and a postgraduate diploma in Event Management from Algonquin College. She is also a 500 hour certified yoga teacher and has been teaching for over six years.

Scott Sheppard

Youth Coordinator

Scott is an independent musician, singer songwriter & noise artist from Corner Brook, NL. An active member of the music community in Western Newfoundland, Scott plays with several local groups/artists including The Louis McDonald Trio, Sherman Downey, Rev. Dave & The Sin Eaters & The Jazz Apostles. In addition to his accompaniment roles, Scott is also the primary singer/songwriter for his original project, The Rangers, and also co-writes alongside Galaa’s Aley Waterman in their ethereal synth-pop duo, Bus People.

Producer / Engineer

Louis McDonald is a musician, producer, sound designer and theatre technician from Corner Brook, NL. He has produced and/or recorded dozens of projects including albums for The Fables, Sherman Downey and Shirley Montague.

As a performer, highlights include performing as a featured guest with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, performing for Canadian Forces troops in Toulon, France and countless other gigs throughout the province. Louis was a sound tech at the Corner Brook Arts & Culture Centre for years and was an instructor, sound designer and theatre tech in The School of Fine Arts theatre program at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. He continues to perform with his namesake piano trio, ‘The Louis McDonald Trio’, and with ‘The Catch’.
